Reports say four people including a boy, aged 12, lost lives and 42 people got injured in a fire at a Durga Puja Pandal in District Bhadohi of Uttar Pradesh on Sunday night. Officials too confirmed the unfortunate incident.
District Magistrate Gaurang Rathi said that the cause of fire, which broke out in an area under Aurai Police Station, is being investigated. The D.M. alongwith other senior officials of the district reached the spot to oversee the rescue efforts.
Reportedly, nine people were admitted in a local hospital, while 33 others with serious burn injuries were referred to a hospital in nearby Varanasi. An official of the Fire Department said that the incident occurred when an aarti was being performed. It is being said that a strong gathering of around 300 people were inside the Pandal at the time of the incident.
