EVACUATION OF STRANDED PILGRIMS DONE IN PITHORAGARH

PITHORAGARH, Jun. 3, 2023 (TBINN)

Uttarakhand’s State Disaster Response Force continues a precarious rescue operation on the Lipulekh-Tawaghat Highway in Pithoragarh near India-China Border, where a massive land-slide on Tuesday evening washed away a 100-metre portion of the crucial Lipulekh-Tawaghat Road near Lakhanpur and left 300 people, mainly pilgrims of the Adi Kailash Yatra, stranded.

Officials of S.D.R.F. said they safely evacuated 221 people on Friday, who had been stranded for the last two days due to the land-slide.

All of them have been taken to the I.T.B.P. Camp in Dharchula, Inspector Lalita Negi, spokesperson, S.D.R.F. informed.
