VIZIANAGARAM, Mar. 3, 2023 (TBINN)
Over-a-decade-long torture and confinement of a woman from Andhra Pradesh by her husband and in-laws ended when police rescued a 35-year-old woman.
The woman, identified as Supriya, was rescued from her husband’s house at Cantonment locality in Vizianagaram Town after her parents approached the court.
As per the police, Sai Supriya from Anantapur District married Goadavari Madhusudhan of Vizianagaram in 2008. The couple worked in the I.T. Sector in Bengaluru and had their first child there.
Later, they moved back to Vizianagaram, where Madhusudhan started practising law.
Allegedly, since then, Madhusudhan and his family confined Supriya to their house and did not allow even her parents to communicate with her. The couple had two more children while the woman remained confined inside the house. Even after this, Madhusudhan did not allow Supriya’s parents to meet her or their grandchildren.
According to Supriya, since returning to Vizianagaram in 2011, she has stepped outside her in-laws’ house only a few times.
