UTTARAKHAND’s CHIEF MINISTER CLAIMS TO HAVE COMPLETED WORK ON UNIFORM CIVIL CODE

DEHRADUN, Jan. 27, 2024 (TBINN)

Uttarakhand’s Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that five-member expert committee on Uniform Civil Code has completed its work.

Pushkar Singh further said that a session of Vidhan Sabha will be convened when state government receives the report and Uniform Civil Code will be implemented in the holl state.

This statement of Uttarakhand’s C.M. assumes significance because the extended tenure of Expert Committee headed by justice (Retd) Ranajana Prakash Desai, ending on January 26, 2024, has been exteded for further 15 days.

Thus, assertion of Uttarakhand’s C.M. that the U.C.C. will be implemented in the hill state soon signifies that Uttarakhand is on its way to become the second state in India to have Uniform Civil Code, apart from Goa.
