Institute of Technology and Management, Dehradun, today celebrated World No Tobacco Day. The program was organized at the instance of College Chairman Nishant Thapliyal by the Arts Department under the guidance of Dean Dr Ravi Bahuguna.
Notably, World Health Organization initiated May 31 as World No Tobacco Day in 1987 which is now celebrated across the world every year today.
The message and purpose of marking the day is to get the world rid of tobacco, as early as possible, because the data shows that more than eight million deaths are reported because of cancer and diseases caused by consumption of tobacco annually.
Students showed concern for this bane as the speakers convinced the students that up to what level tobacco addiction and consumption can damage one’s life, career and family.
Prominent among the present were Principal Dr Anju Gairola, Registrar Ruchi, Dean Dr Ravi Bahuguna and Associate Professor Ashish Vishwakarma.
