NEW DELHI, May 28, 2023 (TBINN) Enhancing tree canopy, reflective pavements and constructing taller buildings adjacent to thinner streets could help mitigate the urban heat island or the U.H.I. Effect, according to a new research.
The tendency of cities to trap heat, termed the U.H.I. Effect, can lead to dangerous temperatures during summers.
However, this research from Pennsylvania State University, United States, published in the journal Buildings, has suggested certain urban factors that can reduce this effect.
A cue can be taken from this research and much can be done to combat heating effect in the cities and urban areas.
