NEW DELHI, Nov. 14, 2023 (TBINN)
Quitting smoking can lower the risk of developing Type-2 Diabetes by 30 to 40 per cent, according to a new brief jointly developed by World Health Organisation, International Diabetes Federation and the University of Newcastle.
Evidence suggests that smoking influences the body’s ability to regulate blood-sugar levels, which can cause Type-2 Diabetes, W.H.O. said in a statement.
Type-2 Diabetes is one of the most prevalent chronic diseases world-wide, accounting for over 95 per cent of all diabetes cases, the U.N. agency said.
