Uttarakhand’s Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami while addressing State Credit Seminar organised under the aegis of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (N.A.B.A.R.D.) in state’s capital said that the banks should assist government in its endeavour to prevent migration and encourage reverse migration in the mountainous areas of the state. Exhorting the banks to undertake a special campaign of giving loans to the people in mountainous areas, Pushkar Singh said that development of rural and backward areas of the hill state is needed and it is essential for reverse migration.
Expressing gratitude to N.A.B.A.R.D. for a hefty 33.5 per cent increase in the credit plan for development of agriculture, horticulture and small & medium industries in the hill state, Chief Minister said that the increase augurs well for farmers and people engaged in small and medium industries in the state. Pushkar, however, cautioned that a proper monitoring mechanism is needed for the success of credit plan.
