LAHORE, Mar. 15, 2023 (TBINN) Reportedly, Pakistani police is locked in a standoff today with supporters of Imran Khan after a night of violent clashes outside former prime minister’s home in the eastern city of Lahore as officers attempt to arrest the opposition leader for failing to appear in court on corruption charges framed against him.
Imran Khan’s party and local media showed police firing tear gas and water cannons at Khan’s supporters on Tuesday in an effort to disperse them. In answer, former prime minister’s supporters threw stones, injuring four police officers, according to a post of Islamabad Police on social media.
Reports of protests have also come in from other major cities across Pakistan on Tuesday in support of Imran Khan, who released a video on social media asking his followers to come out in support of his movement if he is detained.
Thus, the atmosphere in Pakistan is charged over the issue of arresting former prime minister Imran Khan.
