NEW DELHI, Dec. 17, 2023 (TBINN)
The National Medical Commission (N.M.C.) has directed doctors affiliated with it to refrain from initiating or participating in any research activities related to e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products (H.T.P.s) without obtaining the necessary approvals from the Union Health Ministry.
The move follows a letter written by Directorate-General of Health Services (D.G.H.S.) Dr Atul Goel to the N.M.C. flagging the issue and asking it to issue necessary instructions to the healthcare professionals affiliated with N.M.C. and Indian Medical Association (l.M.A.).
The N.M.C., in a very recent public notice asked healthcare professionals to comply with Dr Atul Goel’s instructions.
