INDIA WITNESSES 36 FRESH CASES OF CORONA

MUMBAI, Oct. 2, 2023 (TBINN)

Maharashtra today reported as many as 16 new cases of COVID-19, state Health Department said. Matter of respite is that no death, related to the virus, was reported today, information added.

Fresh cases took the overall infection-tally in the Maharashtra to 81,71,632, as per state’s Health Department. It said that 14 patients were discharged today. A total number of 80,22,933 COVID-19 patients have been, so far, discharged after full recovery. The recovery rate in Maharashtra is now at 98.18 per cent. Besides, the state currently has 138 active cases, Maharashtra’s Health Department informed.

Information also says that, at present, the dominant variant of COVID is Omicron XBB.1.16. Total 1,733 cases were found to be infected with this variant. There were 19 deaths reported among the cases of this variant. Information further said that since 1st Jan 2023, 131 COVID-19 deaths have been recorded, 70.99 per cent of these deaths have occurred in individuals above 60 years of age, 83 per cent of the deceased had comorbidities and 17 per cent did not have any comorbidity.

Meanwhile, India today logged 36 new Coronavirus cases while the active cases have been recorded at 431, according to the Union Health Ministry today.
