It was yet another feather added to the hat of Institute of Technology and Management, Dehradun, when it played in the final match of prestigious Monal Cup under the aegis of District Cricket Association, Dehradun, at Ayush Cricket Academy, Chidderwala of Uttarakhand’s capital city.

This second inter-universities and college Cricket Tournament was sponsored by Red Bull India. The teams which played in the final were Shri Guru Ram Rai Degree College, Dehradun and I.T.M. Dehradun’s Team A. It was S.G.R.R. which won the toss and elected to field first. I.T.M. Dehradun’s Team A scored 145 runs in 19.6 overs with Manish Kumar making 33 runs, Depanshu Nagia 31 runs, Shibham Chauhan 30 runs and Kartik Bhatt scored 22 runs. On bowling front from S.G.R.R.’s side, Anmol Shah too 5 wickets in 4 over at cost of 24 runs. Govind Singh Mehta took 2 wickets in 4 overs giving away 24 runs and Ravinder Negi took 1 wicket in 4 overs giving away 28 runs.

While chasing the score of I.T.M. Dehradun’s Team A, S.G.R.R. attained it in 17.5 losing 3 wickets. Samir Rai of S.G.R.R. made 61 runs, Pratham Sharma remained not out on 38 and Givind Singh Mehto contributed 22 runs. Bowling of I.T.M. Dehradun’s Team A saw Md Ayan taking 1 wicket in 2 overs costing 19 runs, Deepanshu Nagia also took 1 wicket in 4 overs at a cost of 19 runs and Kushagra Singh took 1 wicket in 2 overs giving away 20 runs. Thus, S.G.R.R. won the match with 7 wickets. Anmol Shah of S.G.R.R. was declared Man of the Match.

Notably, Fair-Play Trophy of the tournament went to H.I.T. Dehradun, Man of the Series went to Govind Panwar of D.A.V. (P.G.) College, Dehradun, Best Batsman Award was given to Shubham Chauhan of I.T.M. Dehradun, Anmol Shah of S.G.R.R. Dehradun was adjudged Best Bowler, for best wicket-keeping Pratham Sharma was selected and best fielder of the tournament was Nikhil Harsh of U.P.E.S. University, Dehradun.

Chief Guest of Monal Cup’s final happened to be Sharad Mehta (C E.O., Global Universities System, Asia Pacific), Chairman of I.T.M. Dehradun Nishant Thapliyal was Guest of Honour at finals of the tournament. Besides, Anil Dobhal, Additional Secretary D.C.A. Dehradun and Ashok Gupta, Director D.C.A. Dehradun were also present among others.
