H3N2 IS MAJOR CAUSE OF RESPIRATORY ILLNESS: I.C.M.R.

NEW DELHI, Mar. 5, 2023 (TBINN)

The Indian Council of Medical Research said, Influenza A subtype H3N2 is major cause of current respiratory illness, adding that the I.C.M.R.-D.H.R. (Department of Health Research) has established pan-respiratory virus surveillance across 30 V.R.L.D.s (Viral research and diagnostic laboratories).

About half of all inpatients, admitted for Severe Acute Respiratory Infections (S.A.R.I.), as well as outpatients being treated for influenza-like illness, are found to have influenza A H3N2, I.C.M.R. said.
