People associated with Bhartiya Janta Party instigated residents to burn fire-crackers on Diwali, leading to an overnight increase of over 100 points in National Capital’s air quality index, Delhi’s Environment Minister Gopal Rai alleged today.
At a press conference in Delhi, Gopal said the fire-crackers burnt in Delhi were sourced from Uttar Pradesh and Haryana and that certain individuals, including police personnel from these states, permitted the transportation of those fire-crackers to the city.
Delhi would not have been suffering had these states implemented the ban on fire-crackers and their police done their duty properly, Gopal Rai maintained.
