Victims include one eight-month-old baby girl
CALIFORNIA, Oct. 6, 2022
All four members of the Sikh family kidnapped in California earlier this week, including an eight-month old baby girl, were found dead in an orchard, authorities informed.
The family, originally from Hoshiarpur, Punjab, had been kidnapped on October 3, 2022 from their newly-opened trucking business in Merced County, California. The suspect, Jesus Manuel Salgado, has been taken into custody and remains to be in hospital in critical condition after he tried to kill himself.
Merced County Sheriff, Vern Warnke, said at a press conference that there are no words to describe the anger he feels. There’s a special place in hell for this guy, he said about Salgado. Vern Warnke also informed that the bodies of 36-year-old Jasdeep Singh, 27-year-old Jasleen Kaur, their eight-month-old child Aroohi Dheri and the baby’s uncle, 39-year-old Amandeep Singh were found on Wednesday evening in an orchard near Indiana Road & Hutchinson Road.
Reportedly, a farm worker near the orchard found the bodies and informed authorities. All bodies were found close together. Our worst fears have been confirmed, Warnke added.
In the meantime, the North American Punjabi Association in a press release today strongly condemned the killings. Killing and attacking on the members of Sikh Community is becoming a daily crimes against the Sikhs in one or the other corner of the United States, it said.
