A dual kidney transplant on a patient who was on dialysis was performed for the first time at A.I.I.M.S.-Delhi, the hospital said.
The procedure was conducted by A.I.I.M.S.’ Department of Surgical Disciplines and Department of Nephrology in collaboration with Organ Retrieval Banking Organisation (O.R.B.O.).
The donor was a 78-year-old woman, who was admitted to A.I.I.M.S.’ Trauma Centre on December 19, 2023 with a severe head injury after suffering a fall and later, declared brain dead, Dr Asuri Krishna, Additional Professor of Surgery at hospital said.
