EXPENSES FOR NOMINATIONS BEING MONITORED BY EXPENDITURE OBSERVERS IN UTTARAKHAND

DEHRADUN, Mar. 26, 2024 (TBINN)

Election Commission’s appointed Expenditure observers will monitor expenditure done by the candidates in filing their nomination papers in all five Lok Sabha constituencies of Uttarakhand.

Talking to Media persons, Joint Chief Electoral Officer (J.C.E.O.) Namami Bansal said that the Expenditure observers are in the hill state of Uttarakhand and are monitoring things.

Bansal said that action is being taken to prevent misuse of liquor in the elections and added that 450 litres of liquor was seized in Mukteshwar and 600 litres was confiscated in Champawat on March 20, 2024. She also informed that liquor worth Rs three crore was seized in the Lok Sabha elections of 2019 while Rs 4.70 crore liquor was confiscated in the Assembly elections of 2022.

The commission has constituted 497 flying squads to prevent misuse of liquor in the elections. Monitoring by C.C.T.V. is being done at 628 distribution centres of liquor, eight bottling plants and distilleries in the hill state. Bansal also revealed that G.P.S. tracking systems have been placed on all vehicles engaged in the distribution of liquor.
