Chairperson of Expert Committee on Uniform Civil Code, Justice (Retd) Ranjana Prakash Desai has handed over the draft of its report to Chief Minister of Uttarakhand.
Pushkar Singh Dhami, Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, on the occasion, said that ahead of Assembly elections in 2022 we made a promise to the people of state that U.C.C. will be implemented in Uttarakhand.” Pushkar said that the Expert Committee started its public interaction programme started from Village Mana and the last interaction was held in New Delhi, in which, members of the committee interacted with the natives of Uttarakhand residing in New Delhi.
Thus, moving a step closer towards implementation of Uniform Civil Code (U.C.C.), the Expert Committee, set up by Pushkar Singh Dhami Government, submitted its report to the CM at his residence.
State government will now prepare draft of the bill on basis of this report. The bill on U.C.C. will be tabled in Uttarakhand’s Assembly on February 6, 2024.
