EIGHT MORE MOUNTAINEERS RESCUED FROM DRAUPADI KA DANDA IN UTTARAKHAND

Ace Mountaineer and National Record Holder Savita Kanswal among dead

UTTARKASHI, Oct.5, 2022 (TBINN)

Today eight more mountaineers who were trapped in an avalanche at Uttarakhand’s Draupadi Ka Danda-II Mountain Peak were air-lifted.

Savita Kanswal, an ace Mountaineer who set a national record by climbing Mount Everest and Mount Makalu in 15 days, was among those killed in the avalanche at Draupadi ka Danda-II in Uttarkashi District. So far, 14 people have been evacuated as a result of the incident. Rescued mountaineers arrived in Matli, Uttarkashi, today, where they are receiving first aid treatment. These people were flown by helicopter to the 12th I.T.B.P. Battalion in Matli, Uttarkashi.

Deep Singh from Gujarat), Rohit Bhatt of Tehri Garhwal, Uttarakhand, Suraj Singh of Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, Sunil Lalwani from Mumbai, Maharashtra, Anil Kumar of Rajasthan, Manish Agarwal from Delhi, Kanchan Singh from Chamoli and Ankit Singh of Dehradun, Uttarakhand were amongst who have been rescued, Uttarakhand Police informed.

As per the N.I.M , the avalanche killed 41 people, including 34 trainees and seven mountaineering instructors. According to the institute, the climbers moved to the mountain on September 23, 2022 following a revision of rock-climbing training at N.I.M. and Tekhla Rock climbing training area.
