DEMOLITION ON RAILWAY LAND AT KRISHNA JANAM BHOOMI IN MATHURA

MATHURA, Aug. 10, 2023 (TBINN)

In a major development, local administration, Railway officials and a large number of cops reached areas regarded as sensitive near Mathura’s Shri Krishna Janmasthan with bulldozers and began demolishing over 100 houses in Nai Basti Area, which has a predominantly minority population, that were said to be illegally developed on government land.

It has been said that notices were issued to people living there who took the matter to Civil Court where its next hearing is scheduled on August 21, 2023. Despite the matter being sub judice, demolition exercise went on through the day, locals lament.

Notably, a total of 135 houses with over 200 families have been marked for demolition. Divisional Work Engineer of Railways Nitin Garg said the structures illegally constructed on Railway Land are being removed following due process as land is required to change the line from Mathura to Vrindavan from narrow gauge to broad gauge.

Lawyer Rajesh Kumar Saini, standing for affected families, said that after getting notices from the Railways, we filed a petition in the Civil Court (Senior Division) in Mathura. Thereafter, the court issued a notice to the Railways seeking a response on the matter. Last month, the authorities sought additional time to file a response, which has not happened so far. Despite the matter being sub judice, the demolition is being carried out, Rajesh Kumar Saini wondered.
