Though the meeting between representatives of Unemployed Union and Uttarakhand’s Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has been termed promising by the Chief Minister Pushkar Singh today, but, still the agitation kept going.
For the release of their leaders, around 30 to 35 youth are squatting at Shaheed Smarak of Uttarakhand’s capital. Former chief minister of Uttarakhand Harish Rawat was today stopped from meeting the youth sitting on dharna. On this, Harish Rawat said that either authorities should allow him to meet the agitators or arrest him.
Workers of Congress have also joined the agitation and ruckus happened when Harish Rawat was stopped from meeting the agitating youth. Congressmen, in big number, marched towards Uttarakhand Police Headquarters. But, the same were stopped by police at Globe Chowk.
While returning from Globe Chowk, Congressmen ditched the effort of police to contain them and again made their way towards state police headquarters through Astley Hall. Again the Congressmen were rounded up near Parade Ground and stopped from going ahead.
Thus, the agitation on the issue of scams in recruitment examinations continued with full vigor even today when Uttarakhand Government introduced very strict law for any cheating committed during the recruitment process. Under the law now anyone found responsible for any sort of cheating in recruitment examinations will be fined up to Rs 10 Crore alongwith Life Sentence.
