20 PEOPLE STILL MISSING IN LAND-SLIDE AT GAURIKUND WHILE INCLEMENT WEATHER STOPS VISIT OF UTTARAKHAND C.M. DHAMI

RUDRAPRAYAG, Aug. 5, 2023 (TBINN)

Today rescuers looked for 20 people who remain missing at rain-hit Gaurikund on the Kedarnath Route following a land-slide triggered by flash floods two days ago.

Earlier, three bodies were recovered. Today Uttarakhand’s Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami could not visit the area due to inclement weather and sent Disaster Management Secretary and Garhwal Commissioner to take stock of the situation.

Flash floods had washed away three shops 50 metres above a raging Mandakini River on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday night.

According to District Disaster Management Officer Nandan Singh Rajwar, while the bodies of three Nepalese nationals were recovered on Friday, the search was on for the remaining 20 people.
