OWNERS OF COLD STORAGE WHERE 14 DIED IN UTTAR PRADESH ARRESTED FROM UTTARAKHAND

HALDWANI, Mar. 18, 2023 (TBINN)

Police have arrested two owners of a cold storage Ankur Agarwal and Rohit Agarwal from District Haldwani of Uttarakhand whose roof of a cold storage in District Sambhal of Uttar Pradesh collapsed, resulting in death of 14 people and several others got injured, authorities disclosed today.

It is pertinent to mention here that 24 people were pulled out from the rubble of the collapsed structure on Indira Road under Chandausi Police Station, out of which, 14 died, according to officials. Government of Uttar Pradesh has set up a committee to probe the reasons behind the collapse. The arrest of above mentioned owners of cold storage from Haldwani has been confirmed by District Magistrate of Sambhal Manish Bansal today.

Police registered a case under Section 304A (causing death by negligence) of Indian Penal Code against Ankur and Rohit on Thursday.

According to the police, collapsed roof was built only three months ago without necessary permission from the administration and the quantity of potatoes stored at the cold storage was beyond its prescribed capacity.
