Scattered thunderstorms were likely around Mumbai and in Assam in the Morning. These are also possible in Arunachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir.
Very heavy rain is expected in western Assam, South-eastern Meghalaya and the North-eastern part of West Bengal.
A maximum temperature of 45°C or more is expected in several parts Indo-Gangetic Plain, such as around National Capital Region and in North-western Punjab.
A maximum temperature of 40°C is expected in the rest of Indo-Gangetic Plain and around Ahmedabad (in Gujarat).
In the morning, fog is partially possible around Trans-Himalayas.
Conditions are favourable for further advance of South-West Monsoon into some more parts of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & North-West Bay of Bengal, some parts of Gangetic West Bengal, remaining parts of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and some parts of Bihar during the next four days.
A cyclonic circulation lies over North-East Assam and neighbourhood and another over North Bangladesh and neighbourhood in lower tropospheric levels. Further trough runs from central parts of Bihar to Nagaland and another North-South trough runs roughly along Long. 86°E to the North of Lat. 22°N in lower tropospheric levels. Strong Southwesterly or southerly winds are prevailing from Bay of Bengal to Northeastern states in lower tropospheric levels.
This will result in wide-spread light to moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during the next seven days.
Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall may lash Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh during the next five days and isolated extremely heavy rainfall could also drench Assam and Meghalaya from June 17-21; Arunachal Pradesh on June 18 and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on June 17-18.
Isolated heavy rainfall may impact Odisha on June 20-21; Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal on June 21, 2024.
