Notably, Uttarakhand received double the average expected rainfall, 100 per cent surplus, in the last 24 hours, according to the Regional Meteorological Office, which announced the complete onset of Monsoon over the Himalayan state on Sunday.
The total average rainfall received across hill state in the last 24 hours stands at 20 mm, against the normal of 10 mm during the period, registering a positive departure of 100 per cent, Bikram Singh, Director of the Regional Meteorological Centre.
Tehri Garhwal District recorded maximum excess rainfall with over 750 per cent surplus showers, while 412 per cent more rainfall lashed Dehradun District, followed by over 200 per cent excess rain in both Pauri Garhwal and Haridwar districts, the Met Centre stated.
