Reportedly, at least 85 people died and hundreds injured in a stampede at Yemen’s capital, according to Houthi officials.
It has come to light that stampede happened as hundreds of people crowded into a school in Sanaa in hope of getting a charitable donation of about $10 that was being handed out by merchants to mark the final days of Ramadan.
From the site witnesses Abdel-Rahman Ahmed and Yahia Mohsen told Press that armed Houthis fired into the air in an attempt to control crowd, apparently hitting an electrical wire, which exploded and caused panic among those waiting.
This, seemingly, resulted in commotion and stampede which killed 85 people and more than 300 got injured. Number of dead may increase as many injured are serious.
