HARYANA GOVERNMENT REDUCED TO MINORITY AS SUPPORTING INDEPENDENT M.L.A.s SHIFT TO CONGRESS

CHANDIGARH, May 7, 2024 (TBINN)

Three Independent M.L.A.s today withdrew support to the Bhartiya Janta Party Government in Haryana and announced they would back the Congress, reducing the Nayab Singh Saini Government to a minority in the state Assembly.

The government which has the support of two other Independents is now two short of the majority mark in the 90-member House which has a current strength of 88.

In recent days, some Jannayak Janata Party M.L.A.s have indicated support to the B.J.P. though the J.J.P. pulled out of the coalition government in March.

The B.J.P. has 40 M.L.A.s, Congress 30 and J.J.P. 10 in the House.
