World Cup-winning opening Batsman Gautam Gambhir was today named as Head Coach of the Indian Men’s Cricket Team, replacing Rahul Dravid at the top post.
Rahul Dravid quit the post after India’s recent T20 World Cup triumph in America and West Indies.
After selection by B.C.C.I. of Gautam Gambhir as Head Ciach of Indian Cricket Men’s Team raised hoped that he would bring “tenacity and leadership” to the position that was held with “remarkable success” by Rahul Dravid until recently.
The 42-year-old was front-runner to replace Rahul Dravid whose tenure ended with the country’s title win in T20 World Cup in Barbados last month.
“It is an absolute honour to serve my Tricolour, my people, my country,” Gautam Gambhir said in a B.C.C.I. statement.
