It seems as if B.J.P. Government in Uttarakhand was just waiting for the Lok Sabha Elections to get over in the hill state to increase the cost of electricity in Uttarakhand

Now it is not a ‘Shock’ coming to people of Uttarakhand from Electricity, but from Electricity Bills as Power tariffs in the hill state have been raised.
Seven per cent hike has been declared by the Uttarakhand Electricity Regulatory Commission for Power bills in Uttarakhand.
Officiating Chairperson of U.E.R.C., M.L. Prasad said that an increase of 25 paise per unit has been made for consumers using up to 100 units of electricity. For the domestic consumers using 101 to 200 units of electricity, an increase of 30 paise per unit and for 201 to 400 units an increase of 40 paise per unit has been done. There is no increase for 4.5 lakh B.P.L. users, M.L. Prasad firther informed. Similarly, there is no increase in fixed charges. Prasad said that rebate for the Solar Water Heater will be Rs 75 per 50 litres.
Notably, Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (U.P.C.L.) demanded an increase of 23 to 27 per cent in the Power tariffs in the hill state. The corporation had said that Power tariffs needed to be revised since it had to spend a sum of Rs 1,281 on purchase of power.
