AAM ADMI PARTY RESPECTFULLY DISAGREES WITH SUPREME COURT ON Lt Gov.’s RIGHT FOR APPOINTMENT IN M.C.D.

NEW DELHI, August 5, 2024 (TBINN)

Senior Aam Admi Party’s leader Sanjay Singh today said the party “respectfully disagrees” with the Supreme Court decision upholding the Delhi Lieutenant Governor’s right to appoint M.C.D. aldermen and termed it a “big blow” to India’s democracy.

Sanjay Singh said the S.C.’s decision gives L.G. the right to bypass the elected government.

Notably, Supreme Court today held that the Lieutenant Governor has the power to nominate aldermen to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (M.C.D.).
